Chair

This is a shot I took trying to come up with an idea for my next set of business cards, I may try to get it with a more pure white background. I’ve also had a few photography opportunities coming my direction that I’m really excited about but will tell you about them once they are more solid. I am currently though making plans for more photo shoots and portrait sessions.

PS. In case you didn’t know this is called a champagne chair, my husband makes them out of champagne cages. We nearly used them for our wedding but didn’t get enough cages in time to make them.

I make these from time to time too. I first saw one made in a movie from quite some time ago – perhaps late 80s or early 90s? Do you happen to know the movie?

Also, I like your work and how you see the world. With all those bright colours, I’m guessing you have a pretty positive and optimistic outlook on life :)

Hope you’re having a good day!

@Adrian, I wish I was as optimistic as my work but maybe it’s making me more optimistic, I can only hope so. I will have to look for that movie, my husband would probably appreciate it.

@Robin, I’ve done a bit of googling and can’t find the movie. In the scene the guy presents a champagne chair to his girl at some poignant part of the movie. I have to confess to making them for individuals of the fairer sex for the purposes of wooing them! Girls like a man who’s good with his hands right? :)

I did find this though: http://www.dwr.com/display.do?ruleID=101077. A champagne chair design competition. Who knew!

I’ll be sure to let you know if I find the movie.

This is great. I rather like the fact that the background is not completely white, but I would like to see it that way with the same type of lighting.

And I think I may steal this idea (with full credit to you, of course). I have some tiny chairs that are supposed to hold place cards. Now I want to see what I can do with them!

    Congrats on the new opportunities!

  5. Very cool, I’ve never seen a champagne chair before.

For a business card though I’d go for more of a solid background, the horizon line would be a bit distracting if there were text involved.

You do beautiful work, I’ll have to come back for a proper look around when I’ve got more time.
