Big Weekend On The Horizon

I have a big and crazy weekend coming up. Last weekend I spent most of it sick as a dog. This weekend I have 4 days off, a couple of those days to relax and a couple of those days to give my camera a workout. Tonight I am going to a party thrown by an amazing Boston photographer so a bunch of us photogs can get to know each other. On Saturday I’m going to the rehearsal dinner for my friend and on Sunday is her wedding that I am doing the photography. Luckily, Monday I have off.

Wish me luck!

My E-shoot Lessons

As always, I learned a lot from my first engagement shoot but then everything in life is a constant state of learning. Here is what I came away with.

  • Double check everything before you leave. Even double check your memory discs, which I didn’t. Not only did I not bring any extra but normally I use a 4GB disc and this time I only had a 1GB so I ran out at one point. Luckily we were in Boston so this was easy to fix.
  • Write down ideas and bring them with you, just in case you get stuck.
  • Dress comfortably.
  • Stay hydrated at all times.
  • If you are using a new lens, test it out at least a week beforehand so you know all it’s tricks.

Iris & Declan

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

My engagement session with Iris and Declan was an event. It was a full day in Boston with a lot of wandering around and a lot of laughing. They are such a fun couple to spend time with, you can’t ask for better. I’ve known Iris since Kindergarten, she’s my oldest friend. Declan is obviously her fiancé and this was my first time meeting him. He is from Ireland, where they will have their 2nd wedding, and he is one of the sweetest guys I’ve ever met. Every time I do a new photo shoot I’m pushed a little further outside of my comfort zone but when it comes to photography I find it exciting.

Back To Boston

Monday, May 17th, 2010

We went to Boston yesterday for an engagement shoot (pictures tomorrow but some are on my Fan Page) and spent the whole day wandering around Boston. I really do love Boston, it’s such an amazing city. Part of me wishes I could live in Boston, just for a year or so. I mean I love living in the rural area we live in but something about Boston is just so exciting. Luckily, we have someone to visit whenever we want to.
